The rankings were determined based on a state's scores in five key categories: 

Affordability: Cost of living, Median Annual Household Income, Housing Affordability

Economy: Unemployment rate, Population Growth, Wealth Gap, Job Opportunities

Education & Health: Quality of Public Schools, Quality of Public Hospital System, Life Expectancy

Quality of Life: Average Hours Worked per Week, Access to Public Transportation, Weather
