Methodology

This ranking comes from ExploreWorldWide and takes into consideration five factors:

Bike infrastructure data (based on the miles of protected bike lanes and miles of bike lanes overall); Bikeshare reports (available bike sharing programs and infrastructure); Bike commuter ranking (how many people per capita commute by bike); Temperature (and the average hottest and coldest days in each city); and Safety ratings for bicyclists.

man at mall

Photos of once-thriving malls from the 60s-80s are either a pleasant memory or a sad reminder.

America's biggest malls weren't built to fail. From neon-lit atriums to mirrored ceilings, they dominated the ’60s–’80s. Then came demolition, decay, and bizarre second lives as movie sets and warehouses.

Scientists assumed the grooves found on early human teeth were from the first toothpicks. Modern analysis has a simpler explanation.

Toothpick habits were long presumed to explain the grooves, but new analysis of ancient dental marks challenges that idea, pointing instead to instinctive behavior deeply rooted in human ancestry rather than to early attempts at dental care.

Fossil Collector

Fossils are always an exciting discovery, but sometimes they contain surprises that no archaeologist ever expected.

A fossil usually reveals a creature, yet some split open to expose something wildly unexpected inside. Little stowaways. Last meals. Moments frozen by accident, preserved without intention.
