New York is full of cool things to do, but all that sightseeing can quickly add up. If you’re traveling on a budget but want to make the most of your trip to the Big Apple, check out these iconic attractions.


Central Park

Stretching for more than 40 city blocks and with no admission fees, you can spend hours exploring Central Park. During the summer, the park is a great location for a picnic or a guided tour if you want to learn more about the history of the city. You can also check out the free concerts and plays that are frequently performed there or take a walk on the wild side and visit the Central Park Zoo. With so many different things going on each day, strolling through Central Park never gets old.

The Metropolitan Museum Of Art

While New York is home to several renowned museums, the Met is the best of them all. And with a $30 admission fee, it’s one of the more affordable attractions in the city. In addition to its expansive display of artifacts and exhibits, the Met is home to one of the most impressive fine art collections in the world. Ellis Island

A trip to Ellis Island offers you the chance to experience two famous New York attractions: the island itself and the iconic Statue of Liberty. To get to the island, you’ll need to hop on the ferry boat. Luckily, admission is pretty cheap and only costs $24. From the island, you can explore the base of the Statue of Liberty or take a ride all the way to the top of her crown. Then, head over to the National Immigration Museum to learn about the incredible history of Ellis Island and all the people who started a new life after landing on its shores.

With an abundance of restaurants, boutiques, and impromptu street performances, there’s always something to see when you go to Times Square. And with so many interesting folks passing through this part of the city, it’s possible to have a great time just people-watching.
