Being able to greet people and make simple requests in their language will make your travels a lot easier. It's also a good sign of respect for the people and communities that you’ll be visiting.

4. Get A Good International Data Plan Or A Local SIM Card

Internet access is a necessity for many people, even when they’re traveling. And with good reason—having data on your phone allows you to access maps of unknown areas, arrange reservations, and check-in with your friends and family. To make sure you always have access to data, it’s a good idea to invest in an international roaming plan. This will also make sure you’re not wasting money on the excessive roaming fees that come from domestic data plans. If your phone is unlocked, you can also pick up a local SIM card when you arrive at your destination.

Prepaid SIM cards are pretty cheap in most countries and are very useful for longer trips.
