If you’re planning a trip to this incredible city, then you’ve got to check out these great attractions.

Hofburg Palace

Having been the center of Austrian politics since the 13th century, the Hofburg Palace is an impressive sight to behold. Comprised of 18 sets of buildings and taking up 59 acres, the palace complex displays an interesting combination of Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque architecture. Once home to Austrian royalty and Holy Roman Emperors, Hofburg Palace now hosts the president of Austria. Most of the palace is closed to the public, but you can still explore the Imperial Apartments, Sisi Museum, and Silver Collection.

The Vienna State Opera House

With something for everyone, you can’t go wrong with a day spent at the Prater. Beloved by locals and tourists alike, the Prater is a massive park near the Danube River. It's got lots of theme park rides, restaurants, and a lively nightlife. One of the main attractions at the Prater is the giant Ferris wheel, which is well worth the ride to see some breathtaking views of the city. Other cool attractions at the Prater include a mini railroad, Lake Iris, and tons of recreational space to play sports or go horseback riding. The Prater offers unending opportunities for fun, and you could spend days exploring all the thrills of this giant park.

St. Stephen’s Cathedral

If you love Gothic architecture, then you’ve got to check out St. Stephen’s Cathedral. Though much of the church was reconstructed in the Gothic style during the 14th century, you can still see remnants of the church’s 12th century Romanesque origins in the Heathen Towers. Other features of this beautiful building include the outrageously large Pummerin Bell in the North Tower, catacombs that date back to the 14th century, and the Cathedral Treasure.

Vienna is full of history and cool sightseeing opportunities. For an unforgettable experience in the city, make sure these four attractions are on your list of things to do.
